When Dyson Australia needed a dual-purpose service centre and retail outlet delivered fast, they didn’t have room for a team still figuring things out. Phoenix Commercial completed the full fitout of Dyson’s Mount Ommaney facility in under five weeks, on time, on brand, and without cutting corners.
The Brief
Dyson isn’t a brand that compromises on presentation. Every element of their retail experience is deliberate, from product placement through to lighting and customer flow. This project required Phoenix Commercial to deliver a sophisticated facility functioning as both a fully operational service centre and a premium retail showroom, without either getting in the way of the other.
Working from designs by M-Mosa Architects, the team created a seamless 60/40 split between service and retail operations within a single, cohesive space.
What Was Built
A premium all-black theme runs throughout, giving the store a gallery-like intensity that puts full focus on the product range. Composite panelled shopfront installation, integrated brand signage, and specialised demonstration areas were all part of the scope, as were large-format digital display walls that create a dynamic visual backdrop reinforcing Dyson’s technology-forward identity.
Behind the retail floor, service workshop areas were fitted with the technical infrastructure needed for Dyson’s repair operations. Getting both functions to work side by side, with smooth customer flow between them, was one of the more complex coordination challenges on this job. The exterior brand wall, visible from the shopping centre thoroughfare, completed the picture, making an immediate statement before customers even step through the door.
Delivering Under Pressure
Five weeks is a tight window for a fitout of this scale. Retail tenancies come with fixed opening dates and there is rarely room to negotiate. Phoenix Commercial’s experience in fast-track commercial delivery meant the construction sequence was planned carefully, trades were managed tightly, and site challenges were absorbed without losing time.
Mathew Ablett and the team coordinated closely with M-Mosa Architects throughout to ensure every detail met Dyson’s exacting standards. The composite panelling, signage integration, and display work all required careful attention to detail and was all custom made.
The result is a fitout that looks considered and permanent. That’s the standard Phoenix Commercial holds itself to, regardless of the timeline.
Why It Matters
Retail fitouts for global brands carry high expectations. The space needs to function well operationally, hold up to daily use, and reflect the brand at every touchpoint. Phoenix Commercial’s ability to meet that brief in under five weeks, while managing a dual-function scope and premium finish requirements, reflects the kind of capability that only comes from decades in the industry.Planning a retail or service fitout in South East Queensland?
